For some people, the idea of having a Maternity Session is as exciting as the idea of having a baby, especially if you are experiencing a good pregnancy and feeling particularly radiant.
However, pregnancy isn’t always smooth sailing and you wouldn’t be alone if your first thought was something like “OH HELL NO!” …especially if your body has transformed to a place you might not have imagined it ever going – crazy hormones, lumpy and bumpy bodies, swollen ankles, stretch marks, unwanted kilos…I get it, when you think about these things, the last thing you want is for them to be captured.
BUT – this bump, and the little one inside it, is a once in a lifetime experience. It doesn’t matter if this is your first or third pregnancy, each and every one will be different.
I can also assure you that when your children are older, they will be delighted to see the photos of their pregnant mum, to see you and your emotions and to see how much you and your partner love each other…images like that are priceless. And what about YOU? What about in ten, twenty, thirty years when your memory is fading, when the babies are all big and grown up and moved out. You’ll come back to these images and love them, hard.
Recently I had the pleasure of photographing the Dallavanzi Family from Bump to Baby. Our first session was on location at Town Common – we captured Mum, Chay’s, beautiful growing bump along with her wonderful Husband and gorgeous little girl. Once little Jacob arrived, we had his Newborn Session in studio.
What a beautiful family they are and what a gorgeous little edition, Jacob is.
